Kalstorm Collies

WELCOME TO KALSTORM COLLIES. We are a small kennel devoted to the purebred rough collie.  These noble creatures have been our passion and our companions for over 50 years.  In the early 1950′s, my mother Floy Rowland Eilers acquired her first collie, Gallant.  After marrying my father and moving to Edwardsville, Illinois, she established her kennel, Kalstorm Collies.  She brought my sister Franca V. Eilers and myself into the breed and presently, we are located in Chatham, MA.  My mother is lifetime member of the Collie Club of America and a past president of the St. Louis Collie Club, which is one of the oldest breed clubs in the United States.  We are all owners, breeders, and handlers of our collies.  It is our great privilege to be involved with this breed.

WHAT WE BELIEVE IN:

1.)  Quality in confirmation; that is, the biological and physical quality of the dog from its DNA and genetic traits to the beauty which fills the eye.

2.)  Quality in temperament: that is, the personality, character, and intelligence of the dog.  Our dogs have spirit, personality, and intelligence. They are thinkers and problem solvers.  They are devoted companions and friends.  They will become loving family members who will bring warmth, love, and grace to your home.  We have bred them and raised them to be nothing less.

3.)  Quality in health: that is, this is the best and healthiest animal that we can produce.  From its eyes to how the dog is put together, a Kalstorm Collie is bred to be a superior animal who will live a long and productive life.  When you acquire a Kalstorm collie, you acquire a dog who comes with a Veterinarian’s Health Certificate, its first round of shots, and an eye certificate from a dog opthalmalogist.  You also get our guarantee that if, at any time in the collie’s life, you find that you cannot or do not want this collie, we will take the dog back and find you a replacement.  These are animals that we planned and brought into this world.  Ultimately, we are responsible for them, and we take this seriously.

WHAT YOU MUST BELIEVE IN:

1.) The safety of your collie: no fence, no dog.  Period.

2.)  The health of your collie: regular check ups, good veterinarian care, proper nutrition and hydration, a safe place to exercise, and appropriate hygiene.  Dogs are work.  Dogs are expensive.  They require a considerable commitment in time and finances which extend beyond the purchase price and the initial puppy “cuteness.”

3.)  The happiness of your collie: they want to be a part of your family, as well as part of your breeding program and your show kennel.  We do not believe that dogs are meant to be shown, bred, and then ignored.  If this is what you believe in or practice, then our collies are not for you.

We only breed one litter every two years.
